Kulanu's Albums > JJ Keki on Upper West Side - New York, USA
On October 29, 2009, Kulanu presented a program by JJ Keki, a leader of the Abayudaya Jews of Uganda. He is the featured speaker on Kulanu’s national tour to raise money for the interfaith schools and feeding program run by the Abayudaya community. He presented a slide show and performed songs from the community at West End Synagogue, which co-sponsored the program with Congregation Habonim, Lincoln Square Synagogue, the Church of St. Paul & St. Andrew, and Christ & St. Stephen's Church. Afterwards, attendees adjourned to Lincoln Square Synagogue next door, where Abayudaya Fair Trade coffee and crafts were sold. A special highlight was a book signing by Charles London, author of the new release “Far from Zion: In Search of a Global Jewish Community.” For more information about the community, see www.kulanu.org/abayudaya
